Pedestrian Crossing

Improved security for crossing pedestrians

No less than 73% of all personal injuries and fatal accidents happens when a pedestrian is crossing traffic lanes or bicycle tracks, or in intersections.

Everybody knows that a pedestrian crossing indicates a crossing where cars and other traffic have to give way for pedestrians who want to cross the road.

A pedestrian crossing can be marked in different ways depending on the type of crossing. Some are marked with a signboard showing a crossing person - in some cases supplemented with flashing beacons.

These precautions are well known in the street life and therefore drivers often overlook a pedestrian.

Geveko ITS has developed a system that makes it safer for the pedestrian as well as for the driver. Orange flashing solar cells will be integrated into the white zebra crossings, only to be turned on when a pedestrian is approaching the crossing. This way the driver will be warned only when a pedestrian is approaching.

It is possible to control the system from a traffic light in connection with an intersection.

The system is a combination of I-Module and LED-Guides.
